This year, Chicago Sandblast will offer two divisions for entering teams. There will be a Game division that will compete for the Tournament Championship and there will be a Spirit division that will compete for the Spirit of the Game Championship.

The concept is designed to allow the Spirit division to focus on the essence of ultimate with costumes, cheers, giveaways as well as the official BULA Spirit of the Game scoring system. Our vision is that this division will include 16 teams from across the country. This division will have its own set of prizes where the winning team as voted on by all teams within the division will win the “Sandblast Square” as well as Spirit of the Game Champion jerseys.

The Game division will focus on having 32 teams that will play throughout the weekend. They are still encouraged to wear costumes (or bikinis, sadly that refers to male bikinis), give cheers and more, but we will not implement the same scoring system and they will not be eligible for the Spirit awards. This division will also be competing for their “Sandblast Square” and Tournament Champion jerseys among other potential prizes like complimentary tournament entry fee to Sandblast 2007 and Lei-Out 2007 (thanks Brian).
